Final Blog Assignment for Issue and Trends

During the past seven weeks, as I studied the international websites on early childhood. There has been considerable progress made across the world in terms of human well-being, but the global statistics hide the fact that scores of people do not benefit from it, if at all. The progress has by-passed those who are excluded, ignored, or dispossessed. Through my research, some countries are witnessing widening epidemic of hungry, so much that inequality has become global prosperity.

As long as government, and policy makers overlooks the growing inequalities and poverty it will deepen. If, by far we put our children first we will be more effective in improving human well-being than to continue with the simple growth strategy. We have to remember that children are everybody business. They hold the key to breaking the poverty cycle children are the hardest hit by poverty. Since non poor families tend to be less than poor ones, all children are not represented among the poor. The circle can be carried into the next generation if not controlled during childhood. Behind each child death, or poverty stricken child, there is a line of discrimination of some sort. It’s not fair that because of the differences in a child life, or the way that they live that they don’t have a chance at education those factors are beyond their control.

To reduce the poverty level, we have to help to enhance equity. We have to start with the children.

  1. Gloria- WELL SAID !!
This is a critical time in our nation's governmental forums. If I were you , I would adress this very statement to my state and Congressional representatives. "We" must make our voices heard as we defend young children and thier families. Best wishes to you in the future courses. Perhaps our paths will cross again. Blessings.

  2. Well said indeed. The past 8 weeks have really opened my eyes to how unfair life really is, especially for children. There are a lot of things that people need to come together and work in unity to make better for our children. The injustice of poverty is just the beginning. Working with you and the other people in our class this semester has really made me believe that good things can come when we make the effort and work together. Thank you for sharing not only enlightening information this class but for also sharing your passion for children. Good luck in the future and I look forward to working with you again soon!

  4. Hi Gloria,
I totally agree with you, the government is looking over the ones in need. Our children come first and poverty is definitely a big issue. However, many children living in poverty are great students. As educators, we are a group of individuals looking for a better future and an opportyunity to save our children of the future. Great post and job well done!
