Head Start is the nation’s leader in early childhood
care and education. They provide a wide range of health, parent involvement,
support to families, and education. There are two main programs Head Start and
Early Head Start. These two programs
serve low incomes families earning at or below the federal poverty level, which
for a family of four in the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia
is $22,350 during 2011.
In studying this site I found the need to improve
the relation between the services that children receive in Head Start and the extra
supports they may need through their progress in elementary schools. They are
working with the Department of Education and school districts across the
country to help improve Head Start education, and hoping that all families, of
Early Head Start and Head Start get involve with their child or children
education.

NACCRRA is changing its name to Child Care Aware® of America U.S.
Education
Secretary Arne Duncan announced criteria for a new Race to the Top District,
which will award $400 million to school districts. No early learning component
is required. The NACCRRA wants early childcare provider to unite in posting
comments to the Department of Education blog site, maybe in hope that they may
include early learning. Why would you give school districts funding without
establishing criteria for early learning as well?
After reading your post, I want to learn more about the announcement by Education Secretary Arne Duncan regarding the award money. With all of the research being done proving that early education is the key to a successful education, why isn't more attention being paid to the schools and systems that offer early education? I would definitely like to voice my opinion on this. Please post the website in which NACCRRA wanted providers to place comments.

Angela and Melinda this is where I went to, but I read it Saturday and you had until June 8, to post your comments, the Department of Education blog site. Also on the NACCRRA Newsletter dated June 4, 2012.
DeleteI second Melinda's request for the link to the Department of Education to post comments about including early childhood education in their new proposal. We can't keep leaving early childhood quality education out of the funding!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Gloria.

DeleteThanks for sharing the information about Head Start. I did not know that they were trying to connect with the school systems. I like the ideas about the Head Start trying to improve the education. Good job. Can you tell me where you find that at?

Great job on your blog. I really enjoyed reading it. Head Start is the leading program for early childhood education. They provide quality care and communicate with the parents on a weekly basis. The service is free so you do no have to worry with getting child care assistance. Head Start teaches the children development skills that they will need in life.
